Apply for a resident parking permit
In some residential areas, especially in larger cities, parking is only permitted with a resident parking permit. The parking permit can be valid either only at certain times or around the clock. The resident parking permit does not guarantee a fixed parking space.
This system gives residents priority over other drivers when it comes to allocating parking spaces.
Parking spaces for people with disabilities are excluded from this system.

In addition to cities and municipalities, district offices, large district towns or administrative communities may also be responsible for issuing resident parking permits.

Prerequisite
- You are registered in the residents' parking area and you actually live there.
- The vehicle is registered to you or
- You use the vehicle permanently.
If the vehicle is registered to another owner, you will needconfirmation from the owner that the vehicle has been given to you for permanent use.
Note: The local authorities may make the issue of the licence dependent on further requirements (e.g. main residence, lack of garage). You should therefore obtain information about the requirements from the relevant authority.
Procedure
Depending on the procedure of the responsible road traffic authority, you can apply for a resident parking permit in writing or electronically. Once the application has been received, the road traffic authority will check whether all the necessary documents and requirements have been met. A corresponding decision will then be issued.
The resident parking permit will be sent to you by post or digitally, depending on the local procedure. Ask the relevant road traffic authority which documents you need to submit to apply.
